UX, Visual Designer
Impactful solutions created with informed design
strategy, visual delight and user empathy
Growing up with artistic influences throughout my life, I knew some type of creative profession was on the horizon.
Fast forward to my adult years, I eventually discovered a way to integrate my visually inclined ambitions into practice. I quickly became drawn to user experience design - I had the ability to create beautiful visuals while also constructing user journeys based on effective communication methods. Collaboration and external inspirations drive my curiosity and interest to always question and then question some more. I embrace interactions with multiple groups of partners because I believe that there is much to learn from diverse perspectives. Based on my initiatives to honor user empathy, I strive to make this a habitual practice. I believe that standardizing this process is what essentially translates into the delightful products and the diverse audiences that you serve.
My motivation is to produce solutions created with informed design strategy, compose visual delight for broad spectrum audiences, and empathize with users through crafting mindfully-driven experiences.
I am a San Francisco based multidisciplinary designer with an enthusiastic focus in user experience, visual design and storytelling. I have been an active UX practitioner for 4.5 years. In total, my digital design experience dates back to 2012 and I attribute much of my development to various artistic channels. I graduated from Saint Mary's College of California in 2010 and hold a Bachelors in Media Communications and a Minor emphasis in Women's Studies and Studio Art. I also obtained a Visual Design Foundation Certificate from San Francisco City College in 2013.
I am currently a UX designer with ebay.
UI & UX design
I strive to tackle problems that require collaborative Design Thinking.
I am eager to arrive at solutions through informed strategies. I value the intuitive, visual, and interactive foundations of user experience design. I am passionate about generating strong visuals and also understand that user empathy is a key design consideration.
Frame & understand the story
Effective communication is a fundamental method in framing the story. Creating a pitch that adequately addresses the problem(s) to solve, user audience, and possible solutions, sets the groundwork for discovery. Storytelling is critical in receiving the buy-in from multiple stakeholders involved in product, design, marketing, and development. This collaboration establishes the tone for new potential impact, innovation, and enhancements.
Empathize, ideate & develop
At the center of great user experience design the customer is a prime focus. As designers, we strive to formulate a vision that will ideally adhere to customers' needs and preferences. Through journey maps, task flows, storyboards, wireframes, prototypes, and usability testing, we can more easily designate elements that capture the best solutions. With a customer-centric approach unified with thorough iteration and development, conceptualization evolves into new useful realities.
Visually engage & delight
Sophisticated design language helps users to identify with products while also establishing a strong brand voice and emotional value. Beyond the importance of competent interactions and functionalities, strong visual paradigms create even more delight. As a designer, my aspiration is to continually form compelling interfaces that are simple, elegant, approachable and unique. With this accentuation on visual design, the experience is even further enriched.

In the words of colleagues
"She really helped us push the product forward from integrating our standalone AppRemover application into the GEARSclient to wireframing the user flow of verifying the user to our Cloud layer to helping us fortify our design standards… she has accomplished way more than was expected of her design role in our small team."
I was the lead for Koren’s design role at OPSWAT so I have the honor of extolling her professional virtues in her appointment in our Marketing Team. OPSWAT is a suite of complex IT security solutions that serve government, banking, healthcare and other enterprise institutions that possess sensitive high value sets of data. These clients and partners require defensive measures to ensure their facilities and devices are compliant and safe from encroachment by sophisticated external parties. To this charge; we heaped on Koren shoulders; the responsibility of creating and refining the various presentation layers of our software and business. There are no small jobs as all task are interdependent on each other. With Koren’s inquisitorial nature, she asked great questions and really helped us push the product forward from integrating our standalone AppRemover application into the GEARSclient to wireframing the user flow of verifying the user to our Cloud layer to helping us fortify our design standards… she has accomplished way more than was expected of her design role in our small team. I should also comment on her intense focus on her work which is also complemented by her unflappable demeanor as she was unfazed by changing requirements, updated architecture and feedback by her colleagues, product managers, marketing managers etc., which really expressed her measure as a design professional who has just started on her career trajectory. I know that she will be an impactful associate to ANY team that is lucky enough to have her in their employ.
